Gurnee Dealerships will Soon Offer Toyotas with Internet Radio App

It has been just over one decade since the internet started to become a mass medium and revolutionized the way that everyday activities were carried out. Walking to the mailbox to send a letter suddenly became tedious when email came into the picture. Newspapers quickly became inexpensive wrapping paper with the internet’s ability to share breaking news stories around the globe in minutes. And who needs a landline when social media outlets allow us to substitute phone calls with poking, status updates and wall posts?

Soon the internet will even change the way Waukegan drivers listen to the radio in their cars. Toyota announced their plans to incorporate Clear Channel’s iheartradio app into various models at your Gurnee dealership by 2011. The iheartradio app allows drivers to use an internet connection through a smartphone to listen to over 750 Clear Channel radio stations, celebrity-hosted programs and commercial-free channels. Toyota will be the first auto manufacturer to integrate the mobile app into vehicles.

The iheartradio app is free and is compatible with the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phones 7 devices. The app allows drivers to search for programs by city which means drivers can tune in to a New York City station while cruising around Waukegan. The app also allows you to search for stations by genre, sort through celebrity stations and save your favorite stations for easy access.

The numerous options that are available with the iheartradio app will allow drivers to select their music preferences and personalize their drive, which Toyota says is an important quality to provide to their customers. “Personalization is important to our customers.  Delivering iheartradio in the vehicle will allow our owners to customize their drive-time experience,” said Jon Bucci, vice president advanced technology, Toyota Motor Sales.

The internet has facilitated many aspects of our everyday life and will soon do the same for the 80 year old technology that is the radio. Iheartradio has over 10 million users and was developed especially for in car access. Many Toyota vehicles at your Gurnee dealership are equipped with Bluetooth Audio which means drivers can already wirelessly stream stations from iheartradio with their Smartphones. Toyota has not yet released which vehicles the app will be available on, but has confirmed that your Gurnee certified Rav4 dealer will have vehicles equipped with iheartradio compatibility as soon as next year. Toyota will disclose additional information about the iheartradio integration at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
